Well I just fell asleep at around 9 pm yesterday night (very unusual for me as I go to bed late)...just woke up and Vince just told me there was a earthquake (BBC). So I missed it !
I still remember the mini one we've had a few years ago. Off to see if there's more news about it on television. Sorry about that no cards today but there's a new blog just created by Christina, she's a lovely lady from a swapping card group I belong to...pay her her visit and say hi, please!

Yay ! It's Monday that means another Ismaki sketch. Since I have my Big Christmas challenge going on (actually just started today) and I needed to make another card for it....I've combined the two. Very funky card with a lovely new Runway 'RETRO' Circle kit (if you want to purchase please click on this link first, thank you) from Topline Creations (TLC). Stamps are from The Angel Company (TAC)... I had to cut strips of the details on the paper and thread them through like ribbon, I have this punch, I wanted to use for a while, that punches two slits so you can put ribbon/paper through. I've used a small ribbon on top of the tag !

Avoid the Christmas rush ! My challenge is a fun one. You just have to make one Christmas card on the 25th of every month, so save this blog to your favourites and come back every month to check other crafters' Yule Creations.....ho ho ho! (Here's the link to see all the monthly challenges on one page)
I have an extra option for the challenge for the more adventurous (or insanely addicted to cardmaking); you make 2 cards for February, 3 cards in March, 4 cards in April and so on ! That's a double dare as your output increases every month but the good thing out of it is: you'll find yourself with 65 cards to send in December...just in time !
Please pass it on, I want the Christmas feel just one day a month and it's going to be FUN !
The time limit on this challenge is until the next 25th of the coming month...so for the February challenge you have until the 24th of March to make one Christmas card.
Here's my first card ! I'll create my second card later during the day. (Yes, I'm brave doing the extra option, LOL)... I've used a Brenda Pinnick blank card with a square aperture, circle chipboard, clear vellum sentiment and ribbons. The stamp is from The Angel Company - TAC (cute penguin). The turnmounts are Hot Off the Press (HOTP).
PLEASE POST IN THE COMMENT SECTION WITH A PERMALINK that means CLICK ON THE HEADING OF YOUR POST and then copy & paste the web address in your comment.
The address should look like http://yourblog.bloghosting.com/myxmascard.html and not only http://yourblog.bloghosting.com/ ; otherwise if you put only your generic main page address of your blog when people visit this post in a few weeks time they'll have to dig through your posts to find your Xmas card...when you input a permalink they'll go straight to your creations, ain't that nice ! LOL

I just had a bit of fun using the leftovers from my previous Oriental Marvelling Card... Used the HOTP 'Fold-It Flips' to make the flower, Brenda Pinnick paper and ric rac ribbon. Another fun card ready for Easter ! That Bunny hiding in the pot is so cute I couldn't resist...The Angel Company stamps.

Oh I couldn't sleep on that one ! I've been thinking about creating a fan like shape with raffia on thick cardboard. I created the indents with the Crop-a-dile. Stamps are from a set I got on QVC UK, I believe the make is Habico. I've stampted the chinese script twice on the lower card portion first in Versamagic cloud white then with Versafine black onyx. I chalked over it in white shimmer. It's also a card with a flapt the upper portion (with the fan) just lift up !
Well it's another take on the brilliant Di Hickman Sketches...

Yes ! I've finally made a scrapbook page ! That TLC Hot Fudge 'Together' kit is on its last leg, I had to tip the cellophane bag to get to the last bits. I've use again The Angel Company 'Mini-occasions' stamp set, I thought that tiny heart would really enhance the composition and it matches the flourish on the pink paper.
Vince helped me making this page as I asked his expert eye when I wasn't sure about positioning some elements. You can clearly see I 'fudged' some stamping but we're all humans and it adds to the 'charm' of being hand-made.
I haven't filled the journaling section yet as I wanted to put some personal stuff (so don't be nosey, LOL).
Now I took a digital picture and scanned the page in two halves.....I preferred the scanned page but you are missing the chalked edge all around the page, it was too big too all fit so I cropped, trimmed the edges.

What do you do with leftover paper........you use it ! LOL
I had some Hot off the Press (HOTP), Brenda Pinnick left from previous cards. A TAC plastic container with various stamps was sitting there on my desk and I saw the little butterfly who begged me to be used... I honestly don't know which brand the ribbon is, sorry ! 8-) ....oh nearly forgot the big heart was cut with Xyron personal cutter.
I've decided to use this card for the Daring Cardmakers weekly challenge. This week the theme is 'Love and Friendship'......I hope they like it !
Yes ! It's the Ismaki challenge (#7) ! Our weekly Rendez-vous of sheer sketch madness, LOL. This is what I've made with it. Papers are Topline Creations (TLC) Hot Fudge 'Together' kit and stamps are from The Angel Company (TAC). White brads, Hot Off the Press (HOTP). Et Voilà!

Here's my take on Di Hickman latest sketch. Nearly went into the bin as I was frustrated cutting those hearts (I was in a bad mood too, damn you Diabetes, LOL). That background paper with roses just popped out somewhere so I had to use it. I used the Fiskars textured templates to create the dots and the flourish on those three strips of white cardstock. Then I smothered them and the heart's squares with these metallic creams you apply with your finger. It doesn't show up much on the scan but they are sparkling. The stamp is from The Angel Company (TAC) and the ribbon, Topline Creations (TLC). I'm not sure about the card but since I made it......what the heck ! LOL

I'm just adding that it seems it will retail for $150 and will be available in most craft retail stores beginning June. KT Crafts is one of the store that will stock it.

Here's my take for the Di Hickman weekly sketch challenge February #1 .
I've used the gorgeous HOTP friendship 8X8 paper and cardstock pad plus for the stitching stamp, still Hot Off the Press. The little Fairy and the Butterflies stamps are from The Angel Company (TAC- Stamp on the Month January), I've coloured the Fairy using my brand new pastel pencils and the Sansodor. I cut the heart and the circles with the Fiskars templates and cutter.....go on fly little fairy, fly away ! LOL

I know I know, I'm a bit late since the Ismaki Sketches are released every Monday but once you read what it took me to make that card ( I nearly gave up half way through ! LOL ).
I started using a pearlescent cardstock in blue for the background but textured it with my trusted Fiskars templates, I picked those little rounded blocks because they reminded me of woven bamboo. Then I proceeded to mat a piece of paper with a lotus on it which it from the Oriental QVC TSV kit in the meantime in that kit they were some small playing card like vignettes so I went on and used Anita's 3D glossy accents to turn the round image into an almost like epoxy sticker.
After that I went stamping using both stamps that come with the Oriental kit from QVC: the geisha and the background with cherry blossoms. The geisha was coloured with watercolours whilst the cherry blossoms were done with my newly purchased pastel pencils using Sansodor (you're right Andrea it's a dream to use). After that I matted the geisha unto mat silver mirri card and used the strip left as a border across the card as per sketch I punched holes alongside it with my cropadile and used Papercellar raffia in white to create a blanket stitch.
Finally I pulled my quilling kit that was shouting to be used and decided to create arabesques in white, when all those curls were drying, I découpaged a matching lotus (still from the QVC Oriental Kit) and finally I assembled the card ! I was so glad it was finished...I'm a very slow crafter and like to do a little bit and come back to it.....I usually do that in an afternoon but this card was over three days ! LOLOLOL I'm too slow !
I was very lucky as Cass Art had their sales on as you can notice from the piccy I got 24 pencils for half the price and also the Sansodor was half-price.....very happy bunny ! LOL
I'm nearly finished doing yet another follow-a-sketch-card (Ismaki one) and I have used already the pencils on the stamp from the Oriental QVC TSV; the technique works a treat. A big thank you to Andrea who took the time to write to me and explain how to use the Sansodor. Basically you use your pastel pencils (not watercolour) on the edge of the image you've stamped then you dip the paper stump in the Sansodor and you drag the colour in using circular motions...

It's my hubby's birthday today and since he saw my book of découpage with bunnies (3D Some Bunny to Love), he wanted a card made from it ! LOL You can't really see it from the scan but the bunny and the four corners with daisies are all with a few layers. It was a fun card to make I made the mat with the Xyron Personal Cutter and created the mat for the greeting using a corner punch. Fabric flowers from a Hot Off the Press kit (HOTP) and the brads are from a Brenda Pinnick scrapbook kit.

What do you get when you mix a Kanban Flourish kit with the 'Two Cute' stamp set from Stampin' Up ? (Card for my friend Marzia)
Well apart from the rethoric question, here's a card I made whilst I was playing with my new 'Two Cute' stamp set from Stampin'Up: it's a two step stamp system. You stamp a lighter color solid imprint and then again with another stamp the darker outline...I love the principle but I was hesitant I could pull it off. I so wanted to create a lovely SU style card; usually a clean, minimalistic card, unfussy but chic. Anyhoo, I digressed and had to add my own touch of bling and some noise in the form of the flourish imprint on the cardstock. So to recap, stamps and ribbon Stampin' UP; gems, mat shiny grey card, black cardstock and scalloped edge with Xyron personal cutter; cardstock and die-cuts of bigger flowers 'n' vase......Kanban. Oh nearly forgot, punched the stems with my poker tool using a foam stamping mat.
Please excuse the little bit of Italian below, the card is for my friend Marzia as she gave me a ring when I was in the middle of doing the card so I decided to give it to her....ain't I nice ! LOL
Baciotti Fab

Going through my pictures folder I came across my first attempts at Oriental cardmaking. I used Artsy Collage (HOTP) Oriental pad. I also utilised some handmade paper I had at that time. Just realised it's two years ago....awwww bless !

Glee left me a very kind comment so I visited her blog and what do I see......oh my, a sketch ! I was in the middle of doing an extra card from the Oriental QVC kit. I stopped everything and thought three is a charm. So here it is Glee, I made a card out of your sketch ! LOL
I've used the 8X8 Hot Off the Press Friendship pad and the HOTP Friendship cardstock. Cut the two hearts with my trusted Xyron personal cutter (it's always on just in case, ah !). HOTP Icy rainbow ribbon and generic pastel brads.
