Di Hickman card sketch #5

Ok I've gone sketch mad ! I admit it, I just enjoyed making a card following the Ismaki sketch so much when I came across Di Hickman one, I thought I give it a go again.....and again please forgive me I've used the TLC Girlfriend kit (I'm not trying to push it as it is retired anyway ! LOL).
You'll be happy to know that there's almost nothing left with that kit so I'll use the scraps for a 6X6 LO.I've used the Xyron personal cutter for the flower shapes. HOTP stitch stamps.

Ismaki Sketch #4

I came across this blog thanks to Shary and they set a weekly challenge to follow a particular sketch.

So I've decided to give it a go ! I hope I haven't made a fool of myself ??? I've used yet again that 'Girlfriend' kit from TLC.... I know I can't seem to leave it alone. Everything is from Topline Creations apart from the green textured cardstock which is Die Cut With a View (DCWV).

Have you ever heard of Fat Little Art Pages (FLAP) ?

I came across 'Fat Little Art Page' on a UK forum, they are a cross between a scrapbook page and a ATC. They are 4X4 pages with a half an inch space on the left so that one can punch holes to thread the FLAP pages with ribbons or those metal rings you can get at Stationers.

They are decorated on both sides and you can swap them as you would with ATC.

Here are three examples I made last year.

Background Images two Rubber Stamped stamps, Chipboard and ribbon Topline Creations (TLC)

Artilicious paper, Victorian image royalty free image from the internet, HOTP fragment and metallic tag, butterfly Anita's peel-offs (outline stickers)

Victorian lady and Leaf stamps both from TAC (The Angel Company), paper and tag HOTP

Xyron shapes with some bling n glitter

I had a play with the Xyron Personal Cutter I received the other day. Had still some papers left from the TLC 'Girlfriend' kit and used those boxes of bling and faux gems that have been sitting there for months. The white space at the bottom left of the card has been left empty to add a greeting later on. I used a combination of beads and also glossy accents (Anita's 3D). Just a dash of glitter ! Hope you like it !

This is a hybrid layout I have attempted using Brenda Pinnick digital downloads. It was a bit of a challenge as I'm more a cardmaker than a scrapbooker.

The little boy is my nephew Charlie who is very photogenic, bless his heart !

I printed the digital on a A4 mat photo paper the layout is 8X8 then quickly printed again up the butterfly so I could découpage it, I've also added Anita's 3D glossy accents on the butterfly. To give the page some dimension I've added the TLC 'JOY' chipboard, I wanted to pull the white of the frame so didn't do anything to chipboard, used as is.

Finally the Xyron Personal Cutter came to my rescue for the lettering, I used the alphabet to cut out on white paper the name Charlie.

I didn't want to overdo it with adding elements as BP designs was already done. You can see more of those designs here.

My Stampin' Up Night in London

Wow what a night ! As some of you might not be aware but I suffer from Chronic Agoraphobia. I don't go out much and if I do it's with great difficulty and pain as I get several panic attacks which are frankly debilitating.

I was in two minds in going for that SU Open Night but I conforted myself that it was very near where I live and I had to take only two buses. I was a bit apprehensive but felt safe as my carer (Vince) was coming with me and I made arrangements to meet inside the Holiday Inn with Jodi. We hadn't met officially but were exchanging emails as she got referred to me by Stampin'Up head office.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself during those two hours. We've created two 'Make & Take', the demonstrator Sally made it look so easy and I managed to botch my stamping that night. But most importantly I had lots of fun, meeting other crafters and crafting celebs (Paula and Caz). Shelli was very welcoming and warm, she zoomed in unto our tables because with two men we sticked out like a sore thumb. She was very pleased to see more men taking on craft and I have to agree with her, we are a rare sight but I'm sure there a lot of men out there who enjoy papercrafting.

The two hours went very quickly and there was not a dull moment. Obviously the night was also for recruiting more demonstrators but there was no hard sell, everything is explained very well. There were raffles and a few won lovely stamping sets. We also got some leaflets about stamping techniques and a Stampin'Up Catalogue (UK Edition).

Since everything was supplied to create our little masterpieces ! LOL I noticed this big scrubbing pad to clean stamps which opens up like a big inkpad. Jodi explained how it worked and I was sold (wet side-clean; dry side-dries) simple but very effective; Vince was really impressed with the craft and rubber scissors (very sharp!) so yep you've guessed it, I ordered those as well, a two steps set of stamps completes my order.

I hope there will be another night next's an outing worth going out for despite my illness. Thank you to all that were there and made me feel very welcome, truly appreciated.

Shelli (SU CEO) and ......yep you've guessed it: myself !

Jodi my super dooper Stampin'Up demonstrator in London (UK)

I'm going to post about my Stampin'Up Open Night in London pretty soon, I'm still awaiting some pictures that were taken on the night.

I just wanted to post a quick shameful plug for my SU demonstrator Jodi. We met over the net as her details were passed unto me from Stampin'Up Head Office in the UK and then we finally met that night. We hit it off right away and she showed me a couple of SU items (very good quality). So I placed my order straight away as it would seem rude not to ! LOL

So if you are in the London area and want a bubbly Stampin Up demonstrator just contact Jodi through her Blog. She can deliver personally if you're not too far from her or do Mail order. She's also has a few new ideas which I'm not at liberty to divulge but trust me....they're good !

So a big hug to Jodi from me: you go girl !

More Pink but with swirls (HOTP)

I've used the supplies from the 'Girlfriend' kit but added a twist to it. I went mad with the Hot Off The Press 'Swirls' acrylic stamps. I stamped in pink, silver (brilliance) and blakc (versafine). I've used also a HOTP template for the butterfly shape. Then chalked all the edges with a silvery shimmering colour to give it a bit of sparkle. Added the faux gems and cabouchon for the butterfly body ! It's a bit out there but it's growing on me.

Friendship, Pink and a bit girly with a bit of TLC

I had this TLC I used last year called 'Girlfriend', I made an easter card with it but I had plenty of leftovers. I decided I had to make some cards with it. I've used some TLC pink ribbon and Brenda Pinnick brads (First card), I had some wooden embellishments from a Home & Heart kit (QVCUK) and used glossy accent (Anita's 3D) on the butterfly sticker and the circle. There's still some bits left and I like a challenge so will create another card this evening. I tidied my paper stash yesterday and realised I had loads of Topline Creations kit I haven't used yet so I need to get a move on and 'justify' my purchases ! LOL

Here's the Easter card I made last year, what you see at the back is an envelope I made with the papers !

Amazing Artymiss !

I just got my order from Artymiss (UK) and I'm very impressed by their level of customer service. I placed several orders in the past and they're always quick to deliver.

This last order took a bit longer than usual; I had the feeling that one item that was probably on back order was holding up my delivery. A quick email and the reply was almost immediate: they were waiting for one item from their supplier so that wasn't a problem with me as I could wait.

The estimated delivery was earlier than Artymiss quoted which was a nice surprise but the biggest surprise was that I got one of my item 'upgraded' as they got sent the wrong one by the supplier so instead of holding on unto it they decided to let me have it....very generous as the item was more than double the price of what I've ordered.

So top notch customer service from Artymiss (UK) ! A BIG THANK YOU !

ATC Madness !

Made with HOTP papers and some generic embellishments.

I've used Bo Bunny 'Princess' papers and Letraset rub-ons

I like making ATC; they are good way of using all your leftover bits you don't know what to do with. I've made these ATCs last year and thought I would share them with you.

Quilling, why don't I do more ?

This was my first attempt at quilling last year, I have loads of kits but didn't do anymore of it .... the mind boggles !?! I have a few projects that I've started but never applied to a card. This could be one my new year resolution, LOL, more quilling, please. I find it very calming but never seem to think about it when I have an urge to craft. Anyhoo, I've used a Fiskars embossing template for the background and used a shaped quilling board to make the shapes necessary for the flower and butterfly.

The Angel Company (TAC)

I met a lovely lady, in one of the card swapping groups I belong to, who is an 'Angel' ....truly because she's a wonderful human being but also because she's a demonstrator for the Angel Company (Rubber Stamps). I've placed many orders and I do like the variety and quality of their umounted stamps. I thought I would pull a few cards, made using TAC stamps, I created in the past year or so.

Another card from Oriental TSV (QVC UK)

I've just finished this Oriental card using the Oriental TSV. The découpage was fun to assemble as for the gigantic leaf I used my old trusted Fiskars cutter with an appliqué template, paper used is from the Far East stack (DCWV). I used a matt mirri carstock to mat the leaf and added two chinese peel-offs (they're matt so perfect match) writing on the top right hand corner, I also rubbed the edges and the leaf cut-out with silver chalks (I'm sorry my scanner didn't pick that up very well).

Stampin'Up in the UK, have you ordered yet ?

Unless you've been living in a cave for the past few month then it's not big news that Stampin'Up (SU) have finally opened in the UK. I remember trying to bribe some USA SU demonstrators so that they could ship to the United Kindgom but to no avail...they wouldn't do it, bless them.

For those of you who don't know them, SU stamps are wooden back stamps that you assemble yourself giving you a better price. They also have wheelie/roller stamps with lovely designs and patterns. I've got my eye on a few items and I can't wait to place my first order. I'm just waiting for them to start with some special offers or possibly exclusive stamps of the month.

Now I've found three demonstrators to order from (potentially there's a fourth on the horizon), so I got my SU catalogue from one of them, a bit disappointed it was a bit on the thin side but I guess they are just starting and are trying to find their feet in the European market (they have opened in France and Germany too).

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a set of stamps called 'Nostalgia', I have the feeling it's a retired set but I really like it nevertheless. As soon as I got it I had to make something out of it; I created a card and a collage/postcard.

I've used papers from Papermania and SU ink together with their felt pens to colour the stamp imprint. I've done a bit of matting and layering although I used the inkpad to create the background paper to match with the mottled effect on the stamp.

For the collage/postcard, Papermania papers, Key Stamp (SU), Artsy Collage Stamps (HOTP), just a quick layering work and edges inking.

Oriental TSV from QVC

As promised here's a card I made with the Oriental kit from QVC UK. Used the oriental flowers stamp coloured it with watercolour pencils and edged it with the brilliance lightning black. I also used a DCWV paper (black and white range) and inserted it through the two slits on the cardstock. I've attached one of the coins tied with the cord. I'll post more cards in the coming days.

Last Christmas Cards (Brenda Pinnick....of course, LOL)

Happy New Year !

I've finally migrated to Blogger from my old blog hosting. This is going to be my permanent blogging space from now on. After a wonderful Christmas and New Year, it's back to the old routines and clearing stuff up. I received my Oriental TSV from QVC UK today; it's a nice kit although the wooden stamps are a bit peculiar and I had to reattach them to the spongy bits.

I'm going to play later on this afternoon and post my 'output' in the next few days. I got so many goodies at Christmas, I need to pace myself to play with them all.

Here are the last few cards made with Brenda Pinnick Christmas Card Keeper and the extra ribbons set.
