August Fab's Big Christmas Challenge

Before you scream cheat, I know I know....that's a card from the HOTP personal shopper. I'm not claiming that's my design either ! The reason I've decided to make this card from one of my personal shopper boxes that are dangerously growing under my bed is because QVC UK has a Today Special Value which is a Christmas Personal Shopper one.
Hot off the Press must have had so many people wanting those cards in one bundle that they must have relented and created that kit. So I thought why not have fun making one of those cards ! You can see the inside of the card too. I had a dry run crafting so this will get me crafting again. I like using kits as I don't have to think and agonise over 'will it work or look good' and at the same I can relax let my mind wander whilst I make the card as good as I can possibly can.
If you haven't tried one of those personal shopper from HOTP just give it a go. If you don't want to order them from the States and want a taster go for the QVC kit even when the price reverts back to 30 or so it's still good value.
As usual add your August entries here (you make either one card or eight (8) yep that's the nutter option), please make sure you read the instructions on my February post about my Christmas Card Challenge. You can add your entries up to September the 24th, Thank you !

Midnight Owls Card - Folder embossing and Rachelle Anne Miller Stamp

Just got these lovely Owls from SecretCrafter today, Rachelle Anne Miller stamps....cuuuuutttteeeeeee ! LOL

I've used an border embossing folder from Provocraft Cuttlebug, just added a touch of colour to the owls' belly with some Derwent Inktense watercolour pencils (indigo blue). Added some luster cream on the embossing motif. American Crafts ric-rac ribbon.

Sometimes less is more ! I do like simple cards I find them quite elegant and effective.

Joy Floral Card - HOTP Giant Fold-it Flower Template

I can't seem to leave these wonderful Hot Off the Press giant templates alone. This one is the Giant Fold-it Flower Card. I've used K&Company Sparkly Sweet paper, edged the paper inside the card with Stampin Up Marker, created the tag with the same template and added some HOTP fabric flowers (Pastel pack) and one brad. I've also matted those flowers with a smaller version of the flower using paper leftovers.

I've traced the petals with a swirly motif you can find on the template then followed it with a quickie glue pen and glittered it as the flower paper is glittered, I wanted to carry on with the theme.

Venetian Carnival Mask Card - HOTP Giant Spiral Template plus AVEC Italian QVC Kit

I've been playing again with the lovely 12x12 templates from Hot Off the Press. This time I've used the HOTP Giant Spiral Card Template with 7 Gypsies paper. The stamps are from an AVEC Italian kit I purchased from QVC UK (the kit has lovely Venetian Carnival Masks among other designs). The two pictures show the card closed and opened. I've created the swirl with the same HOTP template as you have extra designs on it to decorate the card's flaps. Markers are Stampin Up.

Wedding Scrapbook Page - K& Company papers

No your eyes haven't tricked you ! LOL I had to 'masquerade' their face with black masks as my friend would only allow me to show the scrapbook page I made for them if their identity would be covered up ! I always permission from people I feature on my blog before putting their pictures in the public domain so I followed their wishes.

I've used all K&Company papers and the Xyron Personal Cutting machine for the lettering. I cut out some flowers from the handwritten paper and layered 4 papers following a Becky Fleck sketch on her wonderful Pagemaps book. Nearly forgot the velvety ribbon, American Crafts.

Vince and I are creating pages for my friend's wedding (that's our wedding gift) so every so often I'll pop a picture of our creations to show what we've done so far.

Little Girl Cutie Card - Sarah Kay Stamp

Here's another card using Sarah Kay stamp and primavera papers, metallic embellishment and tag; I coloured it using Stampin Up markers and double stamped on the same background for the dress.

I love those papers and I thought they would be a good match with that stamp.

Little Girl with Chicks Card - Sarah Kay Stamp

I bought two Sarah Kay Stamps from Secret Crafter and as soon as I received them (thanks Wendy fast service) I had to play with them. I've used a plaid paper and funnily enough the cardstock the stamps came in with (talk about being thrifty). LOL
I've used Derwent Colorsoft pencils and Sansodor oil for the colouring. Corners and flowers I've made using the Xyron personal cutting system.
