Quick Birthday Cards - Deena Designs Card Kit

As usual I'm rushing and had two birthday cards to make, I've used the Deena Designs kit yet again and made these two cards. They were quick to make but very satisfying. I embellished the one on top with Kanban gems and the Happy Birthday sentiment with pearlidoodle and couldn't resist putting a bow to the cupcake (quirky I know ! LOL). Sunny day today in London so I need to stock up on vitamin D so will enjoy some sunlight ! X Fab

Butterfly & Fairy Card - Dare U 2 Digistamp Challenge ' Things with Wings'

Things with wings this week at I've used a sheet from the Blossom & Butterflies Stack, lovely bright colours and tried to find matching ones with the coloursoft pencils then I used the sansodor solvent to smooth them out. Sakura at the ready I've added some doodling dots all around the card and on the butterflies and that polka-dot strip, although you can't really see it. As I was looking for something else a sheet of metallic sentiments from HOTP just dropped so I thought 'why not' ! LOL

Please visit Dare U 2 Digistamp blog so you can see all the other creations from the DT, very talented ladies over there. You can join-in with the challenge too, just use a digital image and away you go.

Bee Happy, Pink Pooches and Doggie Thank you Cards - Deena Kit

I got this Deena kit a few weeks back, made already a few cards with it then realised I haven't scanned them (sigh). So now that I've made a quick card and Vince a couple too, I thought why not. My Bee Happy card uses all supplies from that kit.
Vince's cards on the other hand used other papers ( K&Co and two old kits from IW)
That doggie is soooooo cute I like the contrasting green and red.

I'm off to make more cards for the Dare U to Digistamp team.

Paper Weaving technique Tutorial using Easy Stitches HOTP 7328 Template

No you haven't gone mad, it's really a Christmas card. Reason it's on this blog as well as my Christmas Challenge is because I needed to create a tutorial for my paper weaving technique I used on Dawn Bibby birthday card I made for her. I've had so many people asking me how I did it I thought I would combine my two challenges and create a tutorials whilst making my weekly Christmas card. I also recently joined the Paper Wishes (HOTP) forum so I big hi to everyone over there, you'll be happy to know I've used only Hot Off the Press supplies; also another big hello to all the lovely ladies and gentlemen at the other forum I like to frequent: Craft Telly ! You can get the Easy Stiches template at but if you are in the UK Topaz Crafts have started stocking it too.
You'll need the HOTP template Easy Stitches (#7328)for paper weaving > Easy Stitches template (UK Topaz Crafts)
You can see I selected three papers again HOTP and already created a Tea Bag folding Christmas Tree ; covered a 7"X5" card with the green paper and edged the base card and various mats with a black inkpad.
Here's close up of the Tea Bag Folding Christmas tree I also got my Star Brad (HOTP) ready to trace around the stripe paper for later.
You need to cut strips of paper at 1/4 of an inch, since I only want to do one side of the mat I cut two strips (turned out I didn't need two but always cut more just in case)
Thin paper won't do on its own so you need to use some lightweight cardstock (180gsm) and adhere it to the paper as you'll be cutting into it.
One you stuck the paper on the cardstock just flip it and centre the stitch I also follow the line as it's the right distance from the paper edge.

Using a pencil just trace as you would with any template.
You can see better on this picture how the edge of the paper match that line on the template.
Put the template away and now make an incision using a sharp craft knife, make sure your cuts are very straight.
Now you need to loosen those cuts using a pointed tool ( I use my pokey tool), just slide it in and move back and forth until you have enough space to thread paper through.
Glue the strip on the back and start weaving the paper through the slits.
Here are all my elements and the weaving finished, once you've reached the end of the weaving just glue the last bit at the back. Now I'm ready to assemble the card.
Just a close-up of the weaving effect. I always put some sticky foams on the mat where I weave as to not flatten the effect. I hope you enjoyed the tutorial !

Cards made for Dare U 2 Digistamp blog challenge - Design Team for Chris and Sandra

Week Three - Pink and Green

I've used a lovely rose image drawn by Chris with Brenda Pinnick Sucerie paper pack. Cut half of the front of the card an layered two different papers on each portion. I also added some Kanban pearl gems unto the tiny green flower (you can't really see it though).

Week 2 - Bling
I had so much fun making this card. I added the wine colour vellum unto the base card then used a digital image from Chris lovely collection and coloured it with Coloursoft pastel pencils and Sansodor. I matted the image with the same vellum and unto ribbon cut into a frame. I've also added a sentiment from HOTP instant art pack (Jewels if I remember correctly).

On this one I used a lovely digital drawing from Sandra's collection and just roughen up the edges chalking them a bit of matting and layering unto existing stash papers (forgive me I can't remember the make). I also used a The Angel Company stamp for the sentiment on the circle, the sketch wanted something on the top right hand corner so I added a rhinestone gem brad from Stampin'Up.

I started creating cards for the Dare U 2 Digistamp DT and I didn't realise I was allowed to show my work on my blog (sorry Chris). So here I am today to show you the last three weeks of cards I made for them. Digital images are a new thing for me but I quickly got the appeal of them. Your print always come up right, you can resize them and I tend to colour them with pastel pencils (Coloursoft) and blend the colours using a low odour solvent (Sansodor). Please visit their website as they have a challenge every week and it's lots of fun. You can join in too and add your creations the only requirement is that you use a digital image that you have printed with your home printer.
